Sick of "Classical" Music? Check Out Concerto for Turntable
On October 2, 2005, New York’s Carnegie Hall will put a spin on classical music. The Red Bull Artsehcro will showcase sixty of the most progressive collegiate classical musicians with a thirst to set new boundaries in their art. These student musicians were selected from over 300 applicants for both their incredible talent and their variety of interests beyond classical music and into the realms of hip hop, indie rock, and electronic music. They will accompany another true innovator, DJ Radar, in performing the world premier of “Concerto for Turntable”.
This three movement concerto redefines the pre-conceived notions of “classical” music, flipping the traditional Concerto form on its head by featuring the turntable as a melodic instrument and integral part of an orchestra.
